In 2004, a new Rexall™ pharmacy concept was applied to many Pharma Plus locations and the result was Rexall™ Pharma Plus.
The Pharma Plus name emerged in communities across Ontario in 1989. Previously, we had a long history in community pharmacy dating back to 1903 when Tamblyn Drug Mart opened.
Today we serve in a much larger capacity. Rexall™ Pharma Plus pharmacies are full-service pharmacies focused on providing an extensive selection of affordable products for all your health needs, and can be found in both Ontario and Manitoba.
I.D.A. and Guardian are independently owned and operated but are still part of the Rexall™ family of pharmacies, which means they have the full support of Rexall™.
I.D.A. pharmacies have provided exemplary pharmacy care to consumers since 1933, when the Independent Druggists' Alliance (I.D.A.) was first established in Canada. The Guardian pharmacy banner program was first established in 1964.
Guardian pharmacies can be found in nine provinces and the Northwest Territories and range from full-size pharmacies to smaller prescription centres. I.D.A. pharmacies can be found in eight provinces and in the Northwest Territories.
In Canada, the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy name has become synonymous with putting the patient first. Since 1992, Canadian customers who prefer a pharmacy with an exclusive focus on prescriptions and health-related products visit the Medicine Shoppe to receive patient-focused patient care under a dedicated "100% Pure Pharmacy" philosophy.
In November 2005, The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy celebrated the opening of their 100th store with the Grand Opening of the Terwilliger Professional Centre Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Edmonton, Alberta. Today, 135 Medicine Shoppe pharmacies can be found in nine provinces across Canada.
