Rexall™ Carries the
Flu and H1N1 Prevention
Products You Need.

Rexall is here to help keep you and your family safe from influenza and the H1N1 flu virus all year long.

All influenza viruses result in similar symptoms, which can range from mild to severe. Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue, muscle aches, and in some cases, vomiting and diarrhea. If you are sick with the flu, you can help yourself recover and prevent the spread of the virus by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water. Use an alcohol- based hand sanitizer if you don’t have access to soap and water.
  • Cough and sneeze into your upper sleeve or a tissue, not your hand. Dispose of tissues immediately. Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
  • Keep common surfaces clean. Use disinfectant to clean surfaces around a person who is sick with influenza. Do not share personal items or drinks.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Stay at least one meter away from other people.
  • Rest and drink plenty of fluids.
  • Talk with a health care provider about seasonal flu and H1N1 influenza vaccines.

Remember to talk to your Rexall Pharmacist if you have any questions about protecting your family from INFLUENZA.

Tips on Effective Handwashing:

Handwashing is easy to learn, and incredibly effective at stopping the spread of disease causing germs. Here’s how:

  1. Remove all rings and wet your hands with warm running water
  2. Put a small amount of liquid soap in the palm of one hand. Bar soaps are not as hygienic as liquid soaps because they stay moist and attract germs. If a bar soap is the only option, it should sit on a rack so that the bar doesn’t sit in water.
  3. Rub your hands together for 20 seconds so you produce lather. Make sure you scrub between your fingers, under your fingernails and the back of your hands.
  4. Rinse your hands well with clean running water for at least 10 seconds. Try not to handle the faucets once your hands are clean. Use a paper towel to turn off the water.
  5. Dry your hands with a single use paper towel. If you use a hand towel be sure to change it daily. During cold and influenza season you may want to give each family member his or her own hand towel.
  6. Use hand lotion to put moisture back into your skin if your hands are dry.
  7. Model good handwashing technique to your children. Have them sing a song like “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” while rubbing their hands together to teach them the amount of time it takes to clean their hands properly.

Additional Health Tips for Your Family:

  • Replace your toothbrush as recommended by your dentist; at least every three to six months.
  • The benefits of yogurt are important to you and your family’s health since it can help prevent infection.
  • Yogurt with probiotics is important after antibiotic use by replenishing the beneficial bacteria, preventing up to 50% of yeast infections after antibiotic use.*
  • Lactobacillus acidophilus is a bacteria that grows in the small intestine and that favourably alters and inhibits growth of bad bacteria and promotes digestion.
