Rexall Foundation Donates $5,000 to Community Care Foundation

May 04, 2018

Lindsay, Ontario (May 4, 2018) – The Rexall Foundation has donated $5,000 to Community Care Foundation which provides home and community support, health and wellness programs and hospice services in 73 sites across the City of Kawartha Lakes. The donation will go towards Grief Support Programs offered free of charge to seniors to remove a potential barrier to care.

“The Rexall Foundation is pleased to provide Community Care Foundation with 2 additional Grief Guides and cover support costs for 20 seniors to receive grief support,” said Brian McLaughlin, Chair, Rexall Foundation. “We understand the growing need of support and Community Care Foundation is currently the only Grief Support Program in the community.”

“The donation has enabled us to increase our capacity to support more seniors in our community on their grief journey,” said Toula Murchie, Fund Development Officer, Community Care Foundation. “We are grateful the Rexall Foundation is able to help us provide individuals who are grieving with renewed hope and happiness, to #GrieveNotAlone and for the opportunity to train new Grief Guides. 80% of our Grief Guides are seniors who volunteer and benefit by feeling a sense of purpose, socializing, promoting physical health and fighting depression.”

The Rexall Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by supporting numerous charitable organizations since 2002. Whether it’s a community or children’s hospital or a disease prevention organization, the Foundation values the role it plays in helping the delivery of numerous programs and services in Canada. In 2018, the Rexall Foundation has already donated over $475,164 to 52 charitable organizations that promote the health and wellness of children and seniors, including charities in Ontario, such as Alzheimer Society Peel, Hospice Northwest, Olde Forge Community Resource Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, plus many more local and national charities across Canada.
