Rexall Foundation Donates $10,000 to Alzheimer Society Peel

February 22, 2017

MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – The Rexall Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Alzheimer Society Peel, with all funds going towards the Society’s programs and services.

The donation was made possible by Rexall’s store-wide Customer Appreciation events, in which Rexall locations across Canada host various fundraisers at the store-level in support of the Rexall Foundation.

“On behalf of the employees at our store, I would just like to thank all of the customers that donated generously to the Rexall Foundation, because without your support, our donation to the Alzheimer Society of Peel wouldn’t be possible,” said Gina Martin, Front Shop Manager at Southdown Rd/Truscott Dr. Rexall Drugstore.

The Rexall Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by supporting numerous charitable organizations since 2002. Whether it’s a community or children’s hospital or a disease prevention organization, the Foundation values the role it plays in helping the delivery of numerous programs and services in Canada. In 2016, the Rexall Foundation donated over $860,000 to 58 charities that promote the health and wellness of children and seniors, including William Osler Health System Foundation, Square One Older Adult Centre, and Peel Children’s Centre.

“The Rexall Foundation is having an impact on the lives of thousands of children and seniors and we are very proud to support the Alzheimer Society Peel, which is providing vital and much-needed services to the residents that need it in this community,” said Paul Matteis, Rexall Foundation Board Member.

“Without the support of our community partners, like Rexall, and their dedicated teams we would not be able to do what we do,” said Christopher Rawn-Kane, CEO of the Alzheimer Society Peel. “We thank the Rexall Foundation, their employees and their customers for their generosity.”

As the largest chapter in Canada, Alzheimer Society Peel serves the Region of Peel, promoting public and professional awareness of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, and offering a variety of programs and services. In addition, Alzheimer Society Peel works with all service providers to ensure that optimum health and social services are provided for the family and persons with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the Region of Peel. Last year, it served more than 42,000 individuals.
