Rexall Foundation Donates $5,000 to Smiths Falls Community Hospital Foundation

November 23, 2017

Smiths Falls, Ontario (November 23, 2017) – The Rexall Foundation has donated $5,000 to Smiths Falls Community Hospital Foundation, to help the Perth and Smith Falls District Hospital provide better health care for patients and meet the growing needs of the hospital.

The donation was made possible by Rexall’s store-wide Customer Appreciation events held in August, in which Rexall locations across Canada host various fundraisers at the store-level in support of the Rexall Foundation. The Smiths Falls Rexall Store selected Smiths Falls Community Hospital Foundation as the donation recipient.

“The generous donations by our customers and the efforts of our store employees, specifically Smiths Falls Rexall, made this donation possible,” said Bill Wylie, Front Store Manager at Smiths Falls Rexall Drugstore. “The funding for new equipment and upgrades to facilities will have a direct impact and enhance the health and wellness of residents in Smith Falls and surrounding towns.”

The donation will go directly towards the purchase of two vital sign machines to be used by both inpatients and outpatients. Vital sign machines are used to monitor blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen and saturation levels.

“We are pleased with the passion and dedication of Rexall employees who have made a difference to not only the hospital, but also the Smiths Falls community,” said Lise Smith, Executive Director, Smith Falls Community Hospital Foundation. “The hospital was in desperate need of the vital sign machines and the funds could not have come at a better time. We are very grateful for the donation and can now provide medical equipment that is critical for patient care.”

The Rexall Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by supporting numerous charitable organizations since 2002. Whether it’s a community or children’s hospital or a disease prevention organization, the Foundation values the role it plays in helping the delivery of numerous programs and services in Canada. In 2017, the Rexall Foundation has already donated over $600,000 to 47 charitable organizations that promote the health and wellness of children and seniors, including charities in Ontario, including Hemophilia Ontario, Hospice Renfrew, Nova’s Ark, SickKids Foundation, St. Matthew’s Bracondale House, The Darling Home for Kids, plus many more local and national charities across Canada.
