Rexall Foundation Donates $10,000 to Sunnybrook Foundation

TORONTO (December 4, 2017) – The Rexall Foundation has donated $10,000 to Sunnybrook Foundation, which supports the advancement of research, education and equipment initiatives at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The donation will go directly towards highest priority needs within the Odette Cancer Centre, one of the largest cancer programs in North America.

The donation was made possible by Rexall’s store-wide Customer Appreciation events held in August, in which Rexall locations across Canada host various fundraisers at the store-level in support of the Rexall Foundation. Promenade, Thornhill Rexall Store selected Sunnybrook Foundation as the donation recipient.

“The employees at our Promenade, Thornhill Rexall Store worked really hard to raise the most of any Rexall location and are very proud to be able to be make a donation to the Sunnybrook Foundation,” said Marisa Mammoliti, Regional Director, Rexall. “Our store employees went above and beyond to raise money and are excited to be able to give back to the community they serve.”

“It’s amazing how thoughtful a retail store can be. The Sunnybrook Foundation will use the funds for highest priority needs within the Odette Cancer Centre and the thousands of patients we treat there,” said Ana Shmin, Manager, Events, Sunnybrook Foundation. “A special thank-you to all the employees of Rexall and the Rexall Foundation for their generous contribution to our Foundation.”

The Rexall Foundation has been helping build strong and vibrant communities by supporting numerous charitable organizations since 2002. Whether it’s a community or children’s hospital or a disease prevention organization, the Foundation values the role it plays in helping the delivery of numerous programs and services in Canada. In 2017, the Rexall Foundation has already donated over $600,000 to 47 charitable organizations that promote the health and wellness of children and seniors, including charities in Ontario, including Hemophilia Ontario, Hospice Renfrew, Nova’s Ark, SickKids Foundation, St. Matthew’s Bracondale House, The Darling Home for Kids, plus many more local and national charities across Canada.
