Over the last several years the role of the pharmacist has expanded.  It is no longer just dispensing medication or filling a prescription.  Pharmacists are playing a more integrated role in patient care by; administering immunizations, conducting medication reviews, helping patients quit smoking, helping manage chronic conditions, monitoring blood pressure and adapting or adjusting prescriptions. The overwhelming majority of our pharmacists are embracing their expanded scope of practice to provide an increased level of care and are having a positive impact on patient health outcomes.  To support this expanded role, Rexall has provided all of our pharmacists with the resources and tools they need to deliver these services safely and effectively. 

In order to deliver on our commitment to patient care and improving health outcomes, we expect our pharmacists to engage and speak with patients about their overall health or the medications they are taking.  Our pharmacists use their professional judgement when a patient focused service should be provided and we expect our pharmacists to practice to the highest professional standard and in accordance with provincial regulations and regulatory standards of practice and bylaws.

Pharmacies are the face of neighbourhood health care, providing convenient access to services and care for patients.
