Tips to Improve Your Brushing Routine

Before you begin
While there are many ways to brush your teeth, always ask your dental professional for their recommendation and follow their instructions. To start, use fluoride toothpaste along with a soft-bristle toothbrush.

Brush 2x a day for at least 2 minutes
To prevent cavities and gum disease, you should brush your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes each time.

Brush lightly at a 45-degree angle
Brushing too hard can harm your gums, causing sensitivity, bleeding, or receding. Be sure to brush gently, opting for soft bristles, and angle your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle where your teeth meet your gums.

Replace your toothbrush or brush head every 3 months
After repeated use, your toothbrush will become worn out and less effective. The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) suggests replacing your toothbrush every three months or sooner if you have been recently sick or the bristles start to fray.
