Sore throats can be caused by both viral and bacterial infections. Strep throat is a contagious bacterial infection in the throat and tonsils.
Rapid strep testing is recommended if you’re experiencing symptoms such as pain with swallowing, swollen tonsils, or white patches on tonsils.
Results will be available within 10 minutes.
If negative, your pharmacist will provide non-antibiotic treatment options for symptom management.
If positive, your pharmacist will write and fill a prescription* for antibiotic treatment to decrease symptoms and duration of infection.
Testing is available at all stores in Alberta. There may be a $25 fee for strep throat testing.

This blood sugar test measures the average amount of glucose (sugar) in your blood over the past three months.
An A1C test is recommended to screen and manage diabetes. Diabetic patients are recommended to assess their A1C levels every 3 to 6 months.
Testing is free of charge when clinical need is determined through a Medication Review service. There may be a $25 fee when provided as a standalone service.

The cholesterol (lipid) test measures your blood cholesterol (HDL, LDL, total cholesterol) and certain fats (triglycerides) in your blood. High cholesterol can significantly increase your risk of heart disease, stroke, and conditions related to reduced blood flow.
A cholesterol test is recommended for adults 40 years or older, or if you have risk factors for heart disease.
Testing is free of charge when clinical need is determined through a Medication Review service. There may be a $30 fee when provided as a standalone service.

The COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test can detect specific proteins from the SARS-CoV-2 virus from a nasal swab or saliva sample.
Results will be available within minutes.
If positive, your pharmacist will write and fill a prescription* to help manage symptoms.
Testing is available at all stores in Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia for individuals 2 years and older in Ontario and 5 years and older in the rest of Canada.
A $30 fee applies for this service. Alternatively, take-home kits are available for purchase.
